Detail on who is eligible: 501(c)(3) public charity nonprofit organizations registered with the IRS; Organizations with a fiscal sponsor that is a 501(c)(3) public charity nonprofit organization registered with the IRS; Local governments (including public schools); Fire and rescue departments; Faith-based organizations may apply for funding to support social outreach and charitable service programs that benefit the community at large. Organizations must offer programs and services without discrimination based on age, race, national origin, ethnicity, gender, physical ability, sexual orientation, political affiliation or religious belief.
Prohibited Uses:
Projects solely focused on preparedness for future disasters, annual fund campaigns or capital campaigs, political purposes, lobbying, religious activities, loans, re-granting, reimbursements for pre-award costs.

This grantmaking program will support long-term recovery efforts in western North Carolina, with a preference for organizations serving the most-severely impacted counties: Ashe, Avery, Buncombe, Burke, Caldwell, Cleveland, Haywood, Henderson, Madison, McDowell, Mitchell, Polk, Rutherford, Transylvania, Watauga and Yancey
